Spinach Paratha / Palak Paratha Recipe


Hello lovely ladies….

I am here after a month i guess.. Now-a-days I am getting very less time for blogging.. But i will try to be regular for sure.. Anyway today I will share the recipe of Palak Paratha or Spinach Paratha.

Paratha is one type of unleavened Indian flat bread in which different stuffs are added to make it more delicious but it can be made plain as well. Parathas can be served  with curd or pickle or butter. I will share other stuffing parathas in future.


Spinach is a complete source of iron and other vitamins. And this paratha is good for children who normally don’t like to have it alone.. So now move to the recipe..

Palak Paratha / Spinach Paratha Recipe 

Preparation Time: 20 min.

Cooking Time: 20min.

Recipe Type: Breakfast

Cuisine: Panjabi / North Indian

Serve- 3-4 persons


  1. 2cups of whole wheat flour/ Atta
  2. 250gms. of Spinach leaves/ Palak
  3. 1/2 tsp. of turmeric powder , red chilli powder , sugar
  4. 1/4 tsp. of salt
  5. 1tsp. of oil/ghee
  6. Oil or ghee for frying parathas


1- First wash the fresh spinach leaves under tap water and boil with 1/2cup of water fpr 3-4 minutes by covering a lid. Then after 3-4 mins. remove the lid and allow that to cool.

2- When the boiled spinach leaves get cool ,take the leaves in a chopper and store the stuck for future use. Now grind the boiled leaves to make a fine paste.

3- Now take wheat flour in a bowl and add 1tsp. oil/ghee into it and mix well. Then add salt,sugar,red chilly powder and turmeric powder into it and mix well (measurements are written in the ingredient list).

4- Now add the spinach stuck  and spinach paste into the wheat flour and mix all together properly .If needed add extra water as well to knead properly and make a smooth dough and keep aside for a minute.


5- Now take a small portion of the dough and roll over it to give a round shape. At the mean time heat the  tawa on medium flame. Put the paratha on the hot tawa and turn it after 30seconds .

6- Apply some ghee on the  paratha and cook till golden spots appear from its both sides. In the same procedure make the other parathas. Then serve hot with curd/pickle .. It is very nutritious and healthy and perfect for kids launch box as well.


a) While kneading the wheat dough you can add lukewarm water instead of plain water. This way it becomes more soft and tasty too.

b) You can adjust the taste according your choice by adjusting the quantity of redchilli powder and sugar. You can add green chilli paste to avoid red chilli powder.
